The Acting Center Friday Night Salons are the place to be on a Friday night! They harken back to the great variety shows of the 70s. Where you never know what you are going to see but you know it will be amazing!

Our last Salon, February 22nd was spectacular! The band “Man Made Souls” opened the show with some fantastic music. We had stand-up, Shakespeare, Improv, scenes, Impressions and more music! It was a great evening of entertainment.

Young directors are tomorrow’s hot directors. We recommend that our actors check out this event. These are the types of production teams you want to meet! If you attend, let us know how it went!

The Acting Center student Jim Meskimen gives us the scoop on his character and recent experience on the set of Parks & Recreation. Jim had this to say:

“Since the first season of NBC’s hit comedy, Parks & Recreation, I have been appearing as Martin Housely, a character who MC’s important events (beauty contests, telethons, awards ceremonies etc) in the fictional town of Pawnee.

“Martin’s character has, for some strange reason, evolved into his being a bit of an amateur impressionist… I can’t imagine how that happened.

“Anyway, I was invited back to the show in December and again this last week, and I hope to visit again and again. It’s a very nice group of people who make that show, and they are kind and foolish enough to let me improvise.

“Here is a little video I shot this week from the location where we were filming the latest episode of this charming show that I thought you might enjoy. www.youtube.com/jimmeskimen”

The Acting Centers first salon of 2013 was a huge success. We had some amazing singing, stand up comedy, monologues, impressions and improv! Performers included Zoe Bell, Dave Willams, Jierra Clark, Jeff Pomerantz, Doug Agnew, Earl Turner, Jeff Green and our advanced improv guys, Elvis Winterbottom, Lori Jablons, Jim Meskimen, Tamra Meskimen, Taylor Meskimen, Alicia Knight, Kurt Keller, Anna Gurji And Tatiana Dekhtyar.
