Twice Daley – Still Learning – Musical Performace

Twice Daley - Still Learning - Musical Performance at The Acting Center - August 18, 2018

SOLD OUT!

Twice Daley: Still Learning

Come join us for a wonderful night of original music!

Twice Daley: Still Learning is Bob and Nancy Daley’s way of sharing their celebration of 35 years of marriage and artistic collaboration. The show consists of all original material sung by the composers and accompanied by John Dickson, internationally renowned musician and composer.

The Daley’s are artists who have had musical productions running simultaneously in Los Angeles and New York. Their repertoire consists of musical theater and popular songs that appeal to discriminating audiences of all ages.

Nancy Daley has been a professional musician and songwriter since the tender age of 21 when she decided that was what she wanted to do with her life and hired a man to teach her to play piano. This set the course for a lifetime of musical adventures playing and singing in such varied venues as bowling alleys and the Waldorf Astoria in New York. While playing in New York Nancy was chosen as the inaugural performer in the prestigious baccarat lounge at the new Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas. In addition to playing and singing Nancy composes and mentors young musicians as a means of paying forward the great good fortune of her career.

RF Daley has been a professional performer since he put himself through art school working in a dinner theater in his native Colorado. After a career in the theatre which included regional theater national tours and 14 years on Broadway he and his family relocated to Los Angeles where he expanded into television and film. Together he and Nancy have been writing and composing for over 37 years. They have written in various genres including industrial shows, musical theater commercial jingles and popular songs.

Live @ TAC is what the world needs more of–intense, high dosages of ART!

Music, dance, theater, comedy, sketch, improv, monologue and previously undiscovered forms of performance.

A Shakespeare Workshop

A Shakespeare Workshop at The Acting Center - March 31, 2018 at 1pm

A Shakespeare Workshop

Given by Bryan Torfeh, a veteran of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

This workshop is about getting actors to tune into the sounds and rhythms of Shakespeare’s text – using and hearing the language without intellectualizing.  A lot of terrific actors feel put off by the academic / literary cult of Shakespeare.  Shakespeare’s actors weren’t university-educated; they weren’t considering themes or tragic heroes they didn’t even know what the other actors would say to them in the play.  They worked only with the words in their role not unlike the 3 lines of dialogue you might be given for a TV casting.  Most of the exercises are simply one line per actor, so it doesn’t require actors to come with memorized text.  You will be equipped with the beginnings of  – or additions to – your tool-box for approaching Shakespeare’s text.
