What do we teach?
For nearly 20 years, The Acting Center has rigorously researched, tested, and codified the core principles of acting. We can now provide clear, direct, objective answers about what acting is and how to excel at it. Streamlining and advancing over 100 years of conflicting theories, this unified approach will show you how to become any character and portray any emotion, in any story, at will.
Acting is never a canned process of “rinse and repeat” but there are commonalities to great performances and how they are prepared. You’ll see your work improve almost immediately and regain control of your creativity. You’ll learn to create believable, compelling, and engaging characters and performances in new ways and with deeper impact.
Our non-trauma-based approach is inclusive, invigorating, and empowering, ensuring actors feel stronger, more capable and more independent rather than more in need of outside validation, control and direction.
This is a class that evolves and adapts as you do. No matter your skill level, you will see real growth in your own work and further master your craft
How do we teach?
Our hands-on technique emphasizes learning by doing. Every actor works extensively in each session, as our research shows that actors learn more rapidly and effectively by doing versus just listening or watching. We won’t tell you what to think – we’ll show you how to create. In every class you’ll learn new tools and quickly put your skills into action with live scripted and unscripted performances.
Every session is designed to break the cycle of analysis paralysis, moving you from theory and concept to execution at professional industry speed. You’ll be on your feet acting for most of each class, not sitting through critiques, teacher-specific notes, and wide-open class discussions that fuel anxiety, insecurity, and self-doubt. By prioritizing action instead of other-thinking , you’ll sharpen your skills and strengthen your creative choices in a supportive environment. Here, you focus on your own artistic growth and mastery—not getting stuck in your head with everyone else’s opinions. Actors get better by acting, not sitting around talking or thinking about acting.
This immersive and hands-on structure has proven to accelerate results and support ongoing improvement for actors at all stages of their work and careers.
