Acting Classes Overview
The Acting Center has spent nearly 20 years researching, testing, and refining how acting actually works. The result is a unified, evidence-based approach taught at our Sherman Oaks studio and online — with classes for working actors, emerging talent, and serious beginners.
We recommend starting with our In-Studio or Online Scene Study — it is our core ongoing class that works at any skill level and evolves with you over time. If you have a specific goal such as improving your auditions, booking commercials, or breaking through a creative plateau, one of our two-week intensives may be the right fit. Not sure? Schedule a free intro interview and we will guide you to the best starting point for your goals and experience level.
The Acting Center teaches a unified, evidence-based acting technique developed over 20 years of research and real-world testing. The approach is direct, structured, and non-trauma-based — built on what makes acting actually work, not on theoretical models that fall apart on set. The technique covers character, emotion, theater, film and television scene work, audition preparation, and on-set work as one connected craft. The substance of how each piece is taught — and how the pieces fit together for the working actor — is best understood in the live class. Schedule an interview to see whether this is the right fit for where you are.
You are welcome at The Acting Center regardless of experience level. Our technique applies equally to beginners and seasoned professionals. Our student body includes award-winning actors deepening their craft alongside people taking their very first acting class. The structure of every class supports growth at all levels simultaneously.
Most acting classes meet once a week for two hours. Ours meet twice a week for two or three hours each — every actor up and working every session. The math compounds: roughly four times more practice characters per year than a typical class, before factoring in the technique itself. Our class structures aren’t priced for the cheapest hourly rate; they’re built to actually develop working skill.
Acting classes—both in Los Angeles and online—can vary a lot in price. Ongoing monthly classes and one-time workshops can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand, depending on the school, format, and level of training.
One useful way to compare options is by looking at the hourly cost. But just as important is what you’re actually learning—the approach, the focus of the work, and whether it supports real, long-term growth as an actor.
At The Acting Center, we price our classes to make professional-level training accessible while offering an ongoing artistic home for serious actors.
As a general guide: Ongoing classes usually work out to about $16–$19 per hour, Intensives are typically around $25–$27 per hour, Private or career coaching generally ranges from $100–$150 per hour.
More specifically: Our online classes meet twice a week for 2 hours and are $320/month, in-studio classes meet twice a week for 3 hours and are $480/month, two-week intensive workshops run four nights a week for 3 hours and usually fall between $650–$700 total.
